Elana Jagoda is a performer, composer, prayer leader and educator who brings soul and innovation to Jewish music. She adds new dimensions to this music genre by blending her energetic folk-rock vibe with her passion for world music. Elana infuses a unique spiritual quality into the music she brings to both performance and prayer.
Elana released her first solo album, Zum Gali Gali, in 2007. She revamped classic Jewish family songs with a funky-modern flavor. Her new CD, Uri Uri, is a creative fusion of musical styles that elegantly speaks to both kids and adults alike. Both CDs have been selected for national distribution through the PJ Library program.
Elana plays rocking family concerts with her band at synagogues, museums, festivals and community centers. Past appearances include the Contemporary Jewish Museum, the To Life Festival, and the East Bay Jewish Music Festival.
Elana has also delighted diverse audiences as a song leader, early childhood music specialist, and most recently a cantorial soloist. In addition to leading Shabbat and High Holy Day worship services, Elana conducts fun and engaging Tot-Shabbats, and brings contemporary songs to the religious school classroom. She currently serves as the full-time cantorial soloist at Peninsula Temple Beth El in San Mateo, California.
