Beth Schafer
Beth Schafer is blazing a trail in American Jewish music. She has been a guitarist since the age of 6 and attended the University of Miami School of Music on a jazz scholarship. But, what makes her music special is her attention to the universal themes that not only define Judaism, but many other faiths as well. Beth's infectious energy, well-crafted songs and intelligent lyrics coupled with a great band has made her a leading act in the Jewish music world. Her audiences are no longer just Jewish, she has many fans of all faiths who have found that her messages and music touch them. It is her universality that got her the half-time show at an Orlando Magic game, the 2006 American Idol Faithbased competition win, and a spot playing for President Barack Obama during his historic campaign. Because she is comfortable playing both her acoustic guitars and electric, comping or soloing and her voice is silky and natural, she has been house guitarist for the Union for Reform Judaism's national conferences for the past 10 years. Her band's CDs have been consistently lauded as well arranged and well produced so Beth's music has appeared on dozens of "best of Jewish music" compilations. Beth is the cantorial leader of Temple Shir Shalom in Central Florida and tours regularly to communities nationwide. She has 7 CDs. Beth is the founder of Positive Jewish Living, a Jewish Wellness company. She is the author of Seven Sparks, Tools for Jewish Wellness. She has been married 20 years and has two terrific daughters.
