I'm Elias Lieberman. By day, I'm the rabbi of a synagogue on beautiful Cape Cod. By night, I'm...well, I guess I'm still a rabbi, but I have some free time to pursue my passion...making music and writing songs.
I've been singing and playing guitar for over forty years, since my high school days (and ukulele for the past few years), and I'm definitely a "Boomer" in my musical tastes. I cut my musical teeth on all the great folk-rockers of the '60s and '70s.
About three years ago I started writing and home-recording songs in earnest. A great many of them are settings for Jewish liturgy, a number of which we use in our congregation's worship life. Some of them are secular songs. All of them have given me great pleasure. People who hear them seem to find them moving and uplifting.
In the summer of 2013, after a successful Kickstarter fundraising effort, I went into a professional recording studio to record "This River", an album that is a mix of my secular and Jewish music.
Now I'm sending my music out into the world where I hope it will touch ears, hearts and minds!
