Matt Ponak is a banjo player extraordinaire. Brought up on the planes of Western Canada, he picked up banjo at the age of 16. After years of jamming, song-writing, and hanging around with some amazingly diverse and talented musicians, Matt moved to Boulder, Colorado to pursue his passion for spirituality. After connecting in with Ma'ayan Or, a Jewish Renewal Chavurah, Matt's song leadership and love for nigunim really took off. In January of 2016, Matt released his first album, Bridges of Song - a bluegrass-inspired collection of nigunim. Soulful, fun, and great for all ages, Bridges of Song spans the spectrum from upbeat and uplifting, to deep and contemplative. Matt now lives in Newton, Massachusetts and attends the Rabbinical School of Hebrew College.
