For over three decades, Fran Avni has been instrumental in creating original music for Jewish children and adults as a musician, performer, songwriter, arranger and producer. She has worked as a music specialist, resource consultant, choir director, as educator for teachers at the college level, and is a constant presenter at major international educational conferences.
In the mid-1970's Fran was one of Israel's top recording artists as part of the acclaimed duo "SUSAN & FRAN". With numerous recordings, television, radio, film and and stage credits, Fran Avni performed with Israel's top artists and composers (including Shuli Nathan, Chava Alberstein, Matti Caspi and the Dudaim). As part of the "KESHET B'ANAN" quartet with Susan Cogan and the Dudaim - (Benny Amdursky and Israel Gurion), Fran travelled throughout the country with this successful musical production and acclaimed album of the same name.
Since then, Fran has enjoyed a sterling reputation in the music industry. Her Sesame Street and National Film Board of Canada compositions are highly regarded. Fran's music as part of the Covenant award-winning TAL SELA/TAL AM Hebrew language Arts curriculum, and Z'MAN LASHIR (A.R.E/Behrman House's Kadimah and Z'Man Likro Hebrew curricula) are among the most commonly used Hebrew teaching programs. Fran is the voice of two major Educational curricula: Scholastic's Building Language for Literacy program and LeapFrog SchoolHouse's Ready, Set, Leap curriculum.
Fran is a much-in-demand vocal arranger/choir director and 'instant chorus/instant harmony' director.
Fran's numerous children's recordings feature content that is accessible to kids and parents alike. Her adult recordings, including BLESSINGS IN SONG, ISRAEL WORLD BEAT, SHOSHANIM, and THE MERCIFUL MOON (with Susan Cogan), feature multi-layered vocal arrangements, dynamic drones, counterpoints, and rhythms that have become the trademarks of her production style.
Fran offers playful, interactive concerts for children and adults and dynamic workshops for families and educators featuring her inspiring songs celebrating Jewish heritage with warmth and spirit.
