Rabbi Miriam Maron - News & Reviews
"Ravi Miriam's Music gets 9-Star rating"
Ravi Miriam Maron is on the outskirts of 4AD Records territory; if her music were sullen, she would've fit right into their lengthy discography of enigmatic, incandescent neo-New Age moodiness. But Maron makes it known right away that her haunted chants are inspired by spiritual forces and not the existentialism of everyday living.

However, don't lump Maron into the suburban cheese muzak that often infects the genre. Maron's singing aches with the theatrical drama of opera and the blinding radiance of a choir of angels. On "Incantation," spare tribal percussion provides the heartbeat for Maron's floating vocals, providing it with a ghostly backdrop that is both lovely and eerie. You get the sense that Maron isn't just recording music here; she is trying to reach a higher plain - and take all of her listeners with her.
You can count me in.

On the title track, Maron and Gershon Winkler blend their voices together around a soaring Kudu antelope horn, and it will bring shivers down your spine. The fragile "Robe of Light" stuns with its delicate, cinematic strings.
