The Comedy of Joel Chasnoff
Joel Chasnoff has taken the stage in seven countries around the globe at some of the world’s premier comedy venues: the Montreal Comedy Festival, a USO Comedy Tour of Japan and Korea entertaining American troops, Jewish and corporate events across North America and Europe and hundreds of college and club dates nationwide. On tour Joel has opened for such top-name acts as Jon Stewart and Lewis Black of The Daily Show and Gilbert Gottfried (Aladdin).

A particular favorite in the world of Jewish comedy, Joel’s innovative experience-based, positive Jewish humor has garnered him a cult-like following among the People of the Book and widespread recognition in the Jewish press. Joel recently made his Israeli television debut when he performed a five-minute comedy set – in Hebrew – on the late-night show Tonight With Assaf Har-El.

Joel attended college at the University of Pennsylvania, where he was the Director and Head Writer of the Mask and Wig Comedy Club, America’s oldest all-male comedy troupe. During college he spent two summers with the Philadelphia Phillies baseball organization as an on-field performer in a fruitless attempt to entertain 40,000 of the world’s heaviest-drinking sports fans.

After graduating with honors from Penn, Joel decided to relax a bit by serving in a combat unit in the Israel Defense Forces. As a Tank Gunner in the Armored Corps, Joel spent many a chilly night not sleeping in his tank as his unit lay in ambush in the Golan Heights and South Lebanon. At the end of his service Joel performed stand-up comedy for soldiers on bases throughout Israel.

Upon his discharge from the IDF, Joel took a quick trip through Southeast Asia, the Middle East, South America and Europe, hitting 21 countries in all in an experience that taught Joel the true value of open-mindedness and frequent flyer miles.

Joel’s toughest and most rewarding adventure, however, is fatherhood. As the proud pappy of identical twin girls, Joel looks back fondly on his army days when he sometimes slept five full hours a night.

Joel currently resides in New York City, where he performs in local comedy clubs when he’s not touring the country.

A portion of all revenue from Joel’s performances and sales of his album Hanukah Guilt is donated to charities promoting humanitarian causes.
