Mindy S. Kornberg was born in Brooklyn, New York in 1955 and has been living in Jerusalem, Israel since 1978. She composed the music and English lyrics for all of the songs on her independently produced album "Music from the Mountain: a Jewish Holiday Jam with the Soultune Singers"(2000). "Mountain" is a "cholent" of sounds including American country, klezmer, jazz, reggae and more. It's a family oriented album that's full of sing-along-able tunes. The lyrics are fun and clever with the "maven" recognizing a host of traditional source materials - from the Biblical to the Kabbalistic.

Other biographical highlights in Mindy's career were winning the 1st prize at the 5th AACI English Song Festival held in Jerusalem for her comedy song "How do you get to Carnegie Hall (or who the heck is Gerard Bechar?)" which she performed (vocals, piano and kazoo!) with the harmonies and kazoo stylings of vocalist Rachel Jaskow. At the 4th annual festival, held in Beersheba, she won 3rd prize for her song "Echoes of Memories" a serious holocaust themed ballad which was movingly performed by Judith Paul Litoff and Rachel Jaskow. At the 2001 Voices (English poets in Israel) Song Competition, Mindy's song "Daughter Voices," won first prize (accompanied by Rachel Jaskow, Judith Litoff and Naomi Attias).

These days, Mindy has been performing with the Jerusalem Gilbert and Sullivan Society (yes! there is such a thing!) and continues to write songs as the spirit moves her.
