Lauren Mayer is a singer, songwriter, and opinionated Jewish mother who writes comedy songs about everything from suburban life to politics; she got her off-beat sense of humor from her mother (who still doesn't understand why Lauren didn't go to law school). Lauren is a summa cum laude graduate of Yale University and a 5-time recipient of the San Francisco Cabaret Gold Award, as well as the writer of several award-winning albums of educational music. Her album, Latkes, Shmatkes, is all about the holiday season from a comedic Jewish perspective, and she created it to provide her friends with an alternative to the Adam Sandler Chanukah song.
