Carmen Dieker serves various synagogues in the Kansas City region as a multi-instrumentalist and vocalist. In recent years she has also served as choir director, prayer leader, composer-in-residence, creative programmer, and arranger. Carmen has been commissioned to compose original Jewish pieces for marking significant milestones in the life of a congregation, for example, “Justice Song,” “We Shine,” and “One Thing I Ask.” She has composed more than a dozen Jewish songs, many of which are available here on oySongs.com.
In addition to her synagogue work, she accompanies at local churches and schools, teaches violin, directs music programming, and freelances as a violinist, pianist, and vocalist. Recently, she has performed with internationally recognized acts, such as Michael Buble and Trans-Siberian Orchestra as well as local groups including Quixotic Cirque Nouveau, Rewound String Trio, and Fountain City String Quartet.
