David Meyer & Jon Nelson
RABBI DAVID MEYER & JON NELSON, between them, have several decades of combined experience on the International Jewish Music scene. With the May, 2013 release of their full length, brand new CD, THIS ONE AT LAST, they've teamed up to form ONE OF THE PREMIER DUOS IN JEWISH MUSIC TODAY!

While singing and leading prayer together for the past few years at Temple Emanu-El in Marblehead, Massachusetts, David and Jon have forged an organic sound that's fresh & innovative. Their original compositions and liturgical settings have been lauded as "a bright new light in the Contemporary Jewish genre"... with tight harmonies and a warm, inviting delivery, very reminiscent of the early work of Simon & Garfunkel.

ABOUT DAVID MEYER:
Prior to pursuing his career as a rabbi, David Meyer was one of the best known performers on the American Jewish music scene. He received his B.A. in Music from the University of Kansas, and then spent more than a decade as Music Director at the American Jewish University's Brandeis-Bardin Campus in Southern California. There he was a music teacher and songleader at the on-site Camp Alonim, Brandeis Collegiate Institute, and House of the Book. David has travelled the United States and Israel performing and teaching in a wide variety of settings the songs of both contemporary and classic Jewish folk music, and his original works have been featured in a concert video on the Jewish Television Network.

For the past twenty-one years, David has served as Senior Rabbi of Temple Emanu-El in Marblehead, MA. His sermons and articles have appeared regularly in magazines and rabbinic journals, and his pioneering work in the area of synagogue outreach to the Jewish single and young adult population earned national recognition. He is the author of the acclaimed textbook on Jewish ethics, The Rabbinic Driving Manual: A Jewish Guide to Driver's Education.

Rabbi Meyer is a founding Board Member of "Art a la Carte", a charitable organization that delivers artwork to the hospital rooms of long-term cancer patients. For ten years, he was a member of the Boston Children's Hospital "Miles for Miracles" Marathon Team. He sits on the national U.J.C. Rabbinic Cabinet, and is a recipient of the prestigious Community Rabbinic Leadership Award. In 2006, Rabbi Meyer received the Leonard P. Zakim Humanitarian Award from the Anti-Defamation League, in recognition of his work "building bridges" of understanding between differing faith communities. Rabbi Meyer was awarded the Doctor of Divinity (honoris causa) from HUC-JIR in 2011, and in 2012, he received the Samuel S. Stahl Community Service Award from the North Shore Jewish Community Center.
