Rebecca Schwartz
Rebecca Schwartz is a professional singer/guitarist and award-winning songwriter who believes in the power of prayer through music. She has written musical settings for much of our ligurgy, and her soothing voice and unique guitar style help enable people all over the world to enjoy a "religious experience". Rebecca has also written secular love songs, and songs to help teach autistic children.

Rebecca serves as Cantorial Soloist and Music Director at Congregation Kol Ami in Elkins Park, PA, just outside Philadelphia. As an artist-in-residence outside her community, she specializes in worship experiences, including Shabbat and Havdalah services for adults and/or children, as well as healing services. She has performed in the US, Canada, Israel, and The Netherlands.

In the summer months, Rebecca is "Rosh Shirah" (Songleading Director) at Ramah Day Camp in Elkins Park, PA, making a difference in the lives of Jewish kids by teaching Jewish music and guitar, singing with campers and staff, leading music for worship, and mentoring young adult and teen songleaders. During the summers from 2005 through 2012, Rebecca served as Songleading Director at Union for Reform Judaism Crane Lake Camp in West Stockbridge, MA.

"Rebecca creates a landscape for prayer. She is a performer; not just a singer." Rabbi Howard Bogot

"When she leads us in song, her music brightens our worship and draws us together into a deeply spiritual community." Rabbi Phil Cohen

Rebecca has performed and presented musical workshops at numerous Jewish conventions. She is a Shalshelet and Just Plain Folks award-winner, and has been published by Shalshelet and the Union for Reform Judaism. Sixteen of her songs have also been featured in "The Jewish Path; A Concise Guide & DVD Bringing Judaism to Life", written by Rabbi Wendy D. Pein and Nanci J. Freedberg.

Rebecca is a published author in the collaborative book, "Music, Carrier of Intention in 49 Jewish Prayers", compiled and published by Kimberly Burnham and Elizabeth W. Goldstein. In her personal life, Rebecca enjoys being a wife and mother to two talented young men who are real "mensches".
